Howard Shapiro's Music: Creating Meaningful Experiences

Howard Shapiro is an award-winning songwriter, recording artist, producer, and longtime advocate for peace, human rights, environmental protection, and Hawaiian cultural preservation. 

Since beginning his music career in 1975, Howard has used the power of music to address social, environmental, and cultural issues including Native Hawaiian rights, climate and environmental protection, world hunger, poverty, addiction, peace, and human rights. 

In 1986, he founded Performing and Fine Artists for World Peace, an organization recognized with a United Nations Peace Messenger Award in 1987. 

His work includes recordings with ʻAina and Kumanu, including Greenpeace: To Save the Whales/A Shift in the Wind, Lead Me to the Garden, We Are ʻOhana – Songs of Hope, Earth Patriot, and See the Flame. 

His most recent solo release from 2006, Random Notes - A Song-Writer’s Journey, has received critical acclaim from the Hawaii community and many of his fellow artists.

His music and performances have reached audiences throughout the United States and internationally, including Canada, Europe, Russia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and New Zealand. 

Through songwriting, recording, performance, and storytelling, Howard Shapiro continues to create music that inspires hope, aloha, peace, unity, environmental awareness, cultural understanding, and positive social change.
